So first things first. We were all saddened yesterday to hear of the death of Sir Jimmy Young at the age of 95. What a broadcasting legend. I remember him as the radio voice I heard when I was off school sick and my mum allowed me to listen to Radio 1. I remember being baffled by his sign-off ‘TTFN’, random pinging of his studio lamp and wondering why he was doing recipes on the radio! I mean what a strange thing! But it’s his shows for Radio 2, the legendary hand overs with Terry and the lunchtime shows he did for for 30 years. It still bears his imprint. RIP JY. What a year.

Tunesday joy for us all. Just in case you need some music to take you away from it all and fill your head with beauty. And as you plan what time you might dare go to bed, how about ALL-NIGHTER oldies, songs for staying up.
