..was the band and the band was Genesis. Mike Rutherford is on the show today having written The Living Years, the first member of Genesis to write a memoir. And as you'd expect, this isn't a Keith Richards-style sex, drugs and rocknroll fest, it's far more cerebral than that. As the the books title suggests, the starting point is the death of his father. He was a World War II naval captain and supported his son's career-earplugs at the ready and a Melody Maker under his arm! Mike discovered that Captain Rutherford had written a memoir too and he quotes from it regularly as tells us of Charterhouse, forming Genesis, the departure of Peter Gabriel and the arrival of Mike and the Mechanics. Looking forward to some good chat with Mike after 6.
And this, plus Rebecca's story yesterday about the huge numbers of 20 somethings living with their parents means it's time to MUM AND DAD oldies. Parent pop please!
And thanks for the good feedback on Tunesday-our speakers were as loud as yours (actually a bit louder probably). We'll do another one soon.
Have a splendidly positive Wednesday, see you after 5
