Well that was fun. I was only half joking when I said last night that the only 7 folk posing in front of microphones that you needed were Bob, Jo, Ricky, Nigel, Frank, Alex and Paul. And it turned out that I was right (in my humble opinion)! While a nation seemed to be watching TV, Benjamin Clementine was singing live on Jo Whiley. And if you heard it you’ll know what I am talking about when I say it was pretty astonishing. He sat at the Elton John piano and sang 2 songs which made you stop what you were doing, turn up the radio and say ‘right, what am I listening to here?’ It’s impossible to categorise but we are in Hozier territory, with Michael Kiwanuka and George Ezra in the mix (and Mika?). Anyway I’m listening as I blog and the guy is good. Trust me, he’ll make you smile.
Meantime we have an ARGF to perform, even if you’re on a 4 or 5 day weekend and already lazing around, slippers and pyjamas stolen at 5pm. In keeping with the 70’s theme on the Radio 2 Mail this week and Johnnie Walkers 70th birthday (really?) it’s a 1970 ARGFO please. Hello Hillman Avenger, page 3 and Jesus Christ Superstar, goodbye Morris Minor, the ten shilling note and The Beatles (Ringo’s on the show soon by the way), What do you fancy?
Then a week off (I know, sorry and all that).
5pm
SVP
Thanks
