Hey hey (as they said in The Monkees). People say we monkey around (two different spellings acknowledged). They were good, The Monkees. To us school kids it was about as zany as life became, although the Banana Splits were a close second. I seem to remember trying the zig-zag walk in the play ground, pretending to be Mike Nesmith. Or was it Davy Jones? Micky Dolenz? Peter Tork? The power of kids tv back then was all powerful and you had you buy all the records or call Dial-a-Disc instead. Different times indeed.
So form an orderly queue please for Nigel’s Belgian Cherry Beer-Glazed Pork Tenderloin and then chip in for some SLAPSTICK songs as the Slapstick Festival kicks off in Bristol. Look out for that banana skin/pie-in-your-face etc
