The routine beckons

Moving. A full on week awaits-that's Monday all the way through till Friday. Working everyday. That's the way it goes apparently. Teachers back, schools open, traffic busy. Trying to get child 3 out of bed for some education is proving tricky however and I will need to return to this task shortly. Still, the nights are getting shorter, it's lovely and mild and Donald Fagan is on the radio. And this coffee is working its magic.

Like many of you, the decorations are packed away, the tree is outside and vast, unadorned spaces have opened up in the house. I have carefully wound the lights so they will not be tangled and the baubles padded for maximum protection. Let's discuss this again in December.

Family trip to cinema last night to see Jack Reacher. The Lee Child books are very popular in this house and i'm afraid to report the unanimous verdict was disappointing. Wrong story, wrong lead. And despite the cinema having around 8 people in, each one behaved terribly. Phones answered, food eaten, rattled then spilt, loud conversations held, facebook status checked, seats kicked etc. Suddenly the new TV at home seemed an appealing alternative.

Today we welcome Wilbur Smith back to the show. He's 80 this week! I'd never read about Africa till I picked up a few of his epic adventures in the 70s and he's still going strong with a new 6 book deal. Some will be co-written with other authors for the first time-we'll find out how that works from 6.

And (as is customary) BACK TO WORK/SCHOOL oldies should cheer us on our way home. We are relying in you as ever.

Have an organised and friendly Monday, see you at 5
