(It's another kitchen statement, also true) Hatches have been battened down and everything. Is it safe to come out yet? Earlier, our recycling bin-lid blew into the street and I had to send a child to pick it up. Also some of our neighbours leaves have landed in our garden. This is serious now. Child 3 had dreams of cancelled school due to trees on the chemistry block or something-sadly/happily school is open and the trudge out of the door seemed heavier than normal. Fortunately a 10 minute walk to the tube will only take him 2 so that'll be fine.
Business as usual then today with the Radio 2 Bookclub offering The Silent Wife by A.S.A.(Susan) Harrison. We had been considering this in the summer but very sadly Susan passed away before the book could be published. Since then however it has picked up many plaudits and supporters. One of them, Adele Parks, is coming in to champion the book. It's in the 'Gone Girl' category of psychological thriller, about a disintegrating marriage that leads to cheating, duplicity and violence. You can read a chapter here of course, then hear what we all make of it after 6.
And how about CLEARING UP oldies? I might even have to sweep up those leaves myself...
