Morning bloggers and occasional viewers of these pages. Drab January morning with the hint of colder matters to come ('The Beast from the East is back!' etc). Some papers seem to go mad over events that are clearly just winter doing its thing;it'll be cold and snowy-wow who'd have thought it?
Surprisingly a 2 show day today as 5L has an Oscar nomination special today from 1.30, just 24 hours after BAFTA announced their own. If you've never heard them they are a really rather odd affair with the names and movies rushed through in a matter of moments. And all at 5.30 in the morning. Everyone's yelling 'just slow down there a minute!' but it is the opposite of the do itself which drags on FOR EVER. The BAFTA list is a mixture of the expected and the disappointing; namely Tarantino getting a nomination for Django and not Sam Mendes for Skyfall which seems preposterous to me but what do I know. We'll stumble and wander our way through the Oscar business and then I'll saunter casually round to R2 for some Drivetime action.
Nigel is promising Jansson's Temptation which sounds intriguing until you find it's Swedish potato and anchovy casserole. Anything with the revolting taste of anchovies in is a no for me but if anyone can do it, Nigel can etc. Anyone want mine?
And oldies please, as Nick Clegg takes to the airwaves, for THE PHONE-IN. Occasionally enlightening, frequently a sharing of ignorance, usually popular, the phone-in is a must-have for most speech radio stations (cheap too!). But now we need musical accompaniment-so songs please!
Have a sweet and gentle Thursday, see you after 5 (and 1.30pm)
