Enjoyed the tunes yesterday and there is usually one track on a Tunesday that provokes a lot of response. This time it was Tom Waits and Tom Truabert’s Blues. Many listeners were so surprised, they wrote in shock. It’s certainly true that there’s not a lot of Tom Waits on the radio but this song is so familiar thanks to the Rod Stewart cover that it can be welcomed like a long lost friend. If you’ve never heard any Tom Waits he can be quite a shock but my guess is quite a few listeners dug out/downloaded some extra Tom after the show.
Monty Don is back today taking about Paradise Gardens. This should be a blast of heat into our chilly January via Spain, Morocco, Turkey and India. Monty has been touring what he says are magical places; green spaces filled with flowers and fruit where shade and water have been found. I love the way Monty talks about his craft and his passion for the gardens he visits, so lets try some PARADISE oldies to illuminate the whole show.
