I don't really enjoy writing this on my phone. Happy to stab a text or compose a tweet but the blog should be written in the office, with a coffee and a big screen on which to type. Instead this is London City Airport and I'm queuing for a calorie laden, heart stopping bun to ease the pain of a sleepless night. Such is my terror of missing the flight that I-as normal - wake up every ten bloomin' minutes just to check the clock. So a pastry I need and a pastry I shall have.

And it sets the tone for this week which I suspect will feature very few slim-line breakfasts.

We are Edinburgh-bound again and a bag of jumpers is packed. We had great audiences last year we are looking forward to 4 more shows from the BBC's tented encampment at Potterow. Our house band today is the fabulous Paul Carrack and frankly we could stop right there. The man's had more hits than I've had pain-au-raisin and his voice is as good as ever. Comedian Greg Proops performs his confession and we have a live Book Club with Ann Cleves, Alexander McCall Smith and local boy Ian Rankin. Plus other stuff we haven't thought of yet.

And more of your FESTIVAL tunes please - don't think that just because we're on manoeuvres you aren't needed.

Pastry. Flight. Sleep. Show. Chips.
