A slushy, wintery one around the estate but at least I can't see the mud for a day or two. Hoping the snow won't interfere with our Please Please Me special today. Come on musicians! You can make it to Abbey Road! No excuses! 50 years to the day since The Beatles recorded the album in one session, we are recreating the whole thing across the day. Different stars will sing and strum the tracks and we have 2 songs on drivetime for you. The Fabs had a slow start apparently-just the one song done in the morning- and then accelerated into the afternoon and evening; hence the spread of tracks through the day. This is EXACTLY what R2 does best I think and it should be a great listen. I should declare an interest (aside from being part of the team) and that the whole thing is the idea of my brother Jonathan who will be producing the whole thing. He's the one glancing at the weather forecast with furrowed brow. I'll go to Abbey Road this afternoon to watch some rehearsals and buy my brother a sustaining beverage. So oldies about PLEASURE please.
Loved all the 'favourite albums' posted for Fridays programme-top choices by the way. Bloggers with taste.
Meantime its a Radio 2 Bookclub choice again and we are going with The Universe Versus Alex Woods, by debut novelist, Gavin Extence. It is a tricky one to pigeon-hole but its funny, memorable and uplifting; read some here for free! Hope you like it...
Have a memorable and tune-filled Monday, see you after 5.
