The Fabulous Fifties
Here we are and off we go and what's happening and is everything ok at your end etc. A weekend here of end-of-year student pick-up. It was clear from Friday that there were lots of uni-bound parents around and I dutifully carved my way along the motorways to do my part. I returned with so much tat I could run a boot sale for months. In fact I may well do just that. Old biscuit tin with mouldy biscuits anyone?
We'll talk 50's with Leo Green ahead of his new Sounds of the Fifties show tonight. I love this stuff mainly I think because of the American Graffiti soundtrack which was full of classic Rocknroll and doo-wop. And the DJs too! Don't forget the DJs!
And after 6 it's John Cleese talking about his memoir 'So Anyway...' We spoke to John when the Python reunion was on but this is autobiography time and is endlessly fascinating. Weston-super-Mare child, anxious adult, and comedy genius. Hear John tonight!
But I think the FIFTIES is a great place to go for the oldies. The fashion, the culture, the politics, as well as the singers. There's a lot to go at....let's see what you've got!
