The one you warned me all about

What ho! Marvellous Monday is upon us with lots of treats everywhere. Hope your weekend was fun, food-filled and fabulous. Hope your sports teams did well (football good, golf bad), your family were grateful (of course) and that you greet the new week with a spring in your step and your hat at a jaunty angle.

My Monday is 2 films and 1 radio show which is classic soft southern media luvvie activity. Most importantly the Bookclub kicks in with Robert Harris's Conclave. This is classic election-loving Harris but brilliantly transposed to The Vatican. The pope is dead (not the current one, all the players here are fictitious) and a new one is being voted for. The long list consists of the 118 cardinals and the brothers have to pick one of their own. Reading Robert Harris here is like watching a master craftsman at work; Cardinal Lomeli is our man here and if you want to know what it feels like to walk the corridors of papal power (and wear scarlet robes) and decide the future of the Catholic church, this is for you. Read a chapter here!

And CONCLAVE CLASSICS, vote for the pope oldies, obviously.

Blog comments will be available here in future. Find out more.
