Me again. Thursday again and the weekend nearly here. Wearily out of bed to push child 3 to school and make sure all the valentines business is correctly attended to. The kitchen table has no flowers but plenty of assorted Kraftwerk paraphernalia scattered across it: 3d glasses, photos, magazines, wristbands etc. The gig at the Tate Modern was quite unlike any concert I've been to before. To start with it was a most studious atmosphere-more like a university lecture with a few hundred (very) post grad students gathering to hear more from some professors of German art. Which is actually what we were. We all been given cushions so that we could sit on the sloping floor of the Turbine Hall but we all stood as soon as the masters appeared. It was really terrific. Honestly. As you know the 4 Kraftwerkians don't move from behind their consoles throughout the whole gig but the movies behind them are stunningly 3D and keep you riveted throughout. It's an art display really and I'm thrilled to have finally paid homage. We tapped our toes and swayed ever so slightly. Comedian Mitch Benn suggested to me the Kraftwerk equivalent of jumping into the mosh pit would be to stand absolutely still. I didn't quite manage that.
I'll shut up now.
But they were good.
Ok today it's Nigel time with some haunch of venison (time to roll out that deer joke again)with a salad of some kind and a green peppercorn sauce/jus/drizzle and oldies please for, what else, your VALENTINE evening OR LACK OF. All personal situations catered for!
Have a cuddly and admiration-filled Thursday. See you after 5.
