Learned my lesson my well

Sunny morning here and that sounds like the swifts outside already. I’d appreciate the time to lie in the garden and watch them but this is Monday and Mondays weren’t meant for such things. I HAVE THINGS TO DO for heavens sake, and how can I do that if all I want to do is watch their spectacular aerobatics and have a glass of rosé? Answer me that!

Hope your weekend was mighty fine. My highlight was following child 1 in the Copenhagen marathon via the official app. Seeing he was just about to finish, I pressed the ‘live TV option’ and, standing in my hall, watched him cross the line! I applauded his 3 hours 17 minutes and our amazingly connected world.

So today is Book Club day and We have Maggie O’Farrell in with This Must Be The Place. It is about a guy called Daniel O’Sullivan and his complicated life. A scattered family, an ex-film star wife and secrets aplenty. And characters aplenty! And time zones aplenty! It's funny and wise and utterly engaging. There’s a chapter here and you can hear her at 6pm.

And we should do songs for GARDENERS because they are dying out. Yes it’s true. The baby boomer generation are failing to teach the THE ART OF GARDENING to their kids and so the skills are disappearing. More decking! More patios! To which I have to say guilty as charged your honour. So as the hard core gather in Chelsea, we’ll do GARDENING GROOVES if you have a minute.

Blog comments will be available here in future. Find out more.
