Worst night ever

Presenter

To be followed by one of the best (hopefully). With all the family sick and coughing and every bed full, you host gallantly elected to sleep on the sofa. This has not been attempted since student days and is unlikely to be repeated. Every cushion crevice, every tilt and sleeping bag imperfection made itself obvious over the few hours I attempted some kind of slumber. Oh well, at least today should be a blast. Ignoring the glitz and shallow horrors of the Brits, we all decamp to the Royal Albert Hall. The Radio 2 Folk Awards is back and we are nicely secreted amongst the finery of the 19th century's top venue (I'm sure that must be right) to bring you all the virtuosity, stories, tradition and harmonies, Plus songs of battles, forlorn love, life, death, work, travel and memorable nights out with the sailors of Portsmouth. Use that as your checklist tonight.

It'll be an evening of celebration and the bar will be busy. We'll be on air for an extra hour too to take you up to show time with Mark Radcliffe and Julie Fowlis. And songs of PRAISE and CONGRATULATION might help us through the times when I need to cough a lot. Your drivetime needs you...
