All at the right speed

Basically nothing is the same until September. We all drift away and wander back, colleagues come and go (in Matt’s case, mainly go) and tans appear and fade again. Between now and when the ‘Back to School’ notices appear (although they may be up already) lots of life goes on ‘pause’. ‘Shall we reconvene in the autumn?’ is the cry, so pour me another lemon and lime cordial with mint and bits of fruit and tell me when we’re all wearing cardigans again.

Imelda Staunton was fabulous last night I thought-and that first night celebration! Champagne, those crisps in a tube and beans on toast. Now that’s class! Who needs all that fancy, fiddly, tiny ‘what is this?’ style food when all you need is a few basics. I’m with her.

We have a lovely Tunesday lined up for you of course and oldies please and EMBARRASSING YOUR KIDS OLDIES please. Dad/mum dancing, public displays of affection, using youthful lingo and wearing age-inappropriate clothing are all top of this list. This is great stuff and we should all do all of them all of the time. Embarrassing your kids is one of the joys of parenthood so let’s choose some tunes and get on with it.

Blog comments will be available here in future. Find out more.
