Cry for help

Another rushed morning with school run duties and an early interview with Kathryn Bigelow, the Oscar winning director of Zero Dark Thirty. Yesterday's breakfast meeting turned out to be a slightly humiliating affair. Having arrived in the cafe and ordered a coffee I realised I had forgotten my wallet (honest gov) and had just £2 in change in my pocket. The coffee I had ordered was £2.50. I reasoned that this was ok as I would just have to explain to my guest that he would have to pay-not the most welcome of opening remarks but surely understandable in the circumstances. Except that he hadn't turned up. Images of your Drivetime host being thrown out or being forced to wash up arrived, as a message was sent to a senior Radio 2 figure of great power and financial wherewithal (hello Helen) to rush round and bring me 50p. Executive decision making was put on hold as emergency funds were found and a bail out put in place; stringent repayment terms were accepted. Honour restored. I shall carry more money in future and not order things I can't pay for.
Today I can offer you actor, comedian and writer Mark Williams, the Fast Show star and Arthur Weasley in the Harry Potter films. He's starring in the BBC1 drama Father Brown, the priestly detective created by GK Chesterton and PG Wodehouse's Blandings where he is Beach the faithful butler. He was terrific in The Borrowers many years back too. Mark's after 6 and oldies please on MANNERS AND PUNCTUALITY. These two are put together by the Master of Wellington College Anthony Seldon who is suggesting schools should have lessons in good manners, punctuality and tidiness-character education he calls it. So let's start the ball rolling shall we...
Have a, well, punctual, respectful and tidy Wednesday.
See you after 5.
