Fifty-nine 4th of Julys
Simon Mayo
Presenter
I have a speech to give tonight. I have no idea why I agreed to this. It’s at child 3’s school and I have to hasten there after tonight’s show. The whole point about radio of course is that you cant see who you’re talking to, so standing up in front of eminent and learned parents WHO ARE LOOKING AT YOU is a singularly daft thing to do. I shall compile a list of witty show-biz anecdotes, plug my shows and books, juggle the bread rolls and finish with a flourish of card tricks. I shall report back.
Before that nightmare unfolds, today is a lovely Tunesday plus we’ll have a playlist of your OLDIE oldies. This is because the Oldie magazine has its Oldie of the Year awards in London. So lets hear it for the (shall we say) over 30s! Maturity! Wisdom! Creaky joints! Give us some tunes!
