Greetings from steamy cab en route to Wimbledon. Just realised I haven't shaved, but hoping the pupils won't be too bothered with slovenly radio hosts. My shoes are clean at least.
A good weekend I trust? Many boiler men arrived at our house with tool kits, spreadsheets and laptops. With a flurry of clanking banging and tea-making they performed life saving surgery on our boiler and brought it back to life. It's currently having the decency to keep us warm in these hard times, though whether it'll last till Tuesday, I wouldn't like to say.
Today it's the book club and we offer 'The Supremes at Earl's All-You-Can-Eat' (which is a diner by the way) by debut novelist, Edward Kelsey Moore. The 'Supremes' in question are 3 women from Indiana, best friends since the 60s, who meet at the same time, same table at their favourite diner. Warm hearted, funny and moving is what the reviewers are saying and you can judge with our sneaky peak at the book club pages.
Its appeal will be to fans of Steel Magnolias and Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Cafe. And anyone who likes to lose themselves in the happy and sad tales of other folks lives! Edward will be live from Chicago after 6.
And songs for people with RED NOSES please. This can be a Comic Relief thing or a 'I'M BITTERLY COLD!' thing. So RED NOSE tunes please and let's see what you come up with.
Have an energetic and well-insulated Monday, see you after 5.
