Talk about movin'

I’d go for Sign O’the Times myself (just joining the favourite track conversation). I remember sitting in the Radio 1 playlist meeting when it came on and it was so far ahead of anything else we’d heard, it was listened to in hushed silence. A contender for song of the decade. It has (as everyone has been saying) been a year of way too many obits. Just this week we’ve had Victoria Wood Wednesday, Prince yesterday and at the weekend Gambo played a brilliant track to say farewell to Merle Haggard .Bob H had done the main work here but I’m not sure I’d heard Sing Me Back Home before, check it out if you can.
So for today we roll in with the movie show and Meryl Streep talking Florence Foster Jenkins (billed on the poster as ’the worlds worst singer’ which doesn’t really do the character justice) then your ARF with some 1980 to kick us into the weekend. The year of The Restaurant At the End of the Universe by Douglas Adams, the sixpence bowed out (Christmas puddings were never the same again) and The Fog and The Shining were scaring everyone at the movies. And on the radio, plenty of synths! What’s you’re 1980 pleasure?
Have a top weekend y’all!
