Good weekend? Did some walking, some clapping and some Don Henley-ing. Last night in Hyde Park, the chance to see Don do some of his classics was overpowering. So in the early evening sun, Don took us through New York Minute, Hotel California, Life In The Fast Lane, End of the Innocence and, wonderfully, The Last Resort. He introduced it as ‘a history of western civilisation in 6 minutes. I did nag him about it of course. The 2 interviews he’s done for Drivetime recently both featured a chat about this tune, in my opinion their greatest song. The late Glen Frey called it 'Don’s masterpiece' and so it is. Then I was the only person to leave the park and miss Carole King. I know this was mad and everyone said the show was magical but my time was up…
