Gabriel Brodie is a ball of energy, getting through life with his charm and quick-thinking. Every waking moment is spent looking for the next opportunity, whether it's for business or pleasure.
He has made it to his early thirties living by his wits, never feeling the need to put down roots. He's not afraid to live dangerously, bending the rules to his own advantage, even if that means occasionally taking advantage of some sucker's good nature.
Gabriel's nomadic existence has led to plenty of casual relationships, nothing ever long-term. He manages to avoid alienating the women involved by being honest with them from the start - he is not after anything serious, and has no desire to settle down.
Gabriel has always been there to back up his older brother Michael, even though it appears on the surface that Michael is the more responsible of the two. Gabriel tried to emulate Michael by joining the army, but not being naturally suited to following orders, he 'left' after two weeks in legendary style.
Whereas lack of security in their youth led Michael to seek stability in life, Gabriel long ago decided that if he never got too attached to anything, no-one could ever hurt him by taking it away.
