Did you miss Friday’s Children In Need spectacular from Glasgow?

The talented cast members teamed up with The Gospel Truth Choir for a stirring rendition of ‘Last Request’. We hear the actors spent a lot of time practising the song in their dressing rooms but they had only one rehearsal together as a group before they went on stage – talk about nerve-wracking!

The sound of singing Shieldinch featured a host of cast members: Libby McArthur, Eileen McCallum, Tom Urie, Neil McNulty, Pamela Byrne, Taryam Boyd, Rian John, Holly Jack, and Reanne Farley all joined in.

You can watch highlights from Children in Need Rocks Scotland, and take a wander backstage and meet the stars with a selection of exclusive clips.

I'm researching hen nights in Scotland as part of a PhD and need to know if hen nights have ever featured on River City. If so, when and is there any way I can see the epiode(s) in which they featured. I'm interested in how and when hen nights, in their current form, made it into popular culture (ie into books and TV programmes as a normal part of daily life). Hope someone can help.

    Carlise, thanks for your comment.

The River City Twitter thread was started by a fan, and therefore isn't an official BBC site. We're loving seeing all things Sheildinch-related creating a buzz on Twitter and it's great to see that people are talking about it!

And sheila, thanks for your query about River City in relation to your studies. Your research into the rituals of hen nights in popular culture sounds really interesting.

I'll point you in the direction of the River City FAQ, as you would be best getting in direct touch with the programme team to ensure a response to your various queries. As RC fans I'm sure we can all think of a few examples of Shieldinch hen nights - the most recent couple from 2010 involved Gabriella, on the night before her non-nuptials to Andy, and then Ruth's gathering before her own wedding to Mr Carroll. These two occasions were pretty low key events in the drama.

Looking through the site's programme archive is a good place to start, and I'm sure users can come up with a few more examples from the scandalous annals of River City!
