Photo of RuthJust like her mum last week, Ruth's up to high doh about matters of the heart. And Mr Nice-and-Decent Gordon got it in the neck.

So, Ruth and Gordon...We did cheer when they got it together, though that's mainly as we have some idea of Ruth's (ahem) chequered past in the battlefield of love.

As far as Gordon's romantic history goes, we only know about the snipper's romance with Tricia, and the fact that he's dabbled came to light when Robbie got flirty. But what are y'all thinking about the Ruth'n'Gordon twosome? Gruesome or ooh-some? :)

The award goes to...?

It seems that the cloud of volcanic ash is also casting a small shadow over River City production. The show's up for the Best Drama Series Prize at Newry's Celtic Media Festival, in the north of Ireland, on Thursday but with flights unpredictable will River City's producer make it over there? Anyone got a crystal ball handy??

Photo of Terri and the MullensRadio Scotland's definitely in a bit of a River City groove this week!

Julie Coombe, who played Jimmy's girlfriend Terri, appears in the comedy drama series 'No Hard Feelings', which you can hear on Friday at 11:30. Listen here or via the iPlayer.

Terri terrorized Scarlett, when they were young, but it's thanks to Terri that Jimmy and Scarlett are now Mr and Mrs Mullen :)

Catch up with Julie in this gallery. A talented writer, she's also behind the successful stage play 'Hormanal Housewives', that's been touring round Scotland this year.

Also on Radio Scotland this week Maureen Beattie is Edi's guest on Stark Talk. Amongst other things, Maureen'll be talking to Edi about the influence of her father Johnny Beattie, who plays Malcolm.

Photo of MollyWhat a cheek you have! It looked for a while there that your scheme to kidnap Madonna and get your feet under the Mullens' table had worked. But it looks as if you've some kind of hold over Scarlett...

What does Molly know? Keep watching to find out! Any guesses in the meantime?

Picture of Sally Howitt, AKA ScarlettWatch out for a River City style feature in The Sunday Mail this weekend: Sally Howitt, who plays Scarlett, and Keira Luchessi, AKA Stella, will be appearing in a vintage photo shoot in the newspaper, which is out on Sunday 18 April.

Keira and Sally will be rummaging for bargain discoveries in charity shops. Now, we all know Scarlett's no stranger to leopard skin, so it'll be interesting to see if Sally manages to avoid the lure of the animal print as she ventures into the world of thrift store style!

Photo of Gina and Eileen in The Oyster Cafe

Poor Gina - what a kick in the teeth.

THAT letter from ex-hubbie Archie, beyond the grave, was un-be-lieveable!

"To my ex-wife Gina, I bequeath my iron and household cleaning products.

Gina is a small-minded and dull woman who will put them to good use."

Nasty, nasty man... No wonder Gina headed straight to Just Gordon for a makeover.

Thought Jack was sensitive in the salon, when he detected that Operation Sex-up Gina wasn't what she really needed. He's not a bad stick really...

At last Gina's finally washed nasty Archie right out of her hair in more ways than one... How glad are we all that she has finally taken the next step with Murray, and on her own terms!

Catch Gina's journey and all the goss on the iPlayer and read about Libby McArthur as she helped kick-start a fundraising campaign, in the Evening Times.

Tuesday, 6 April - Funeral blues

Photo of Lenny, upset at Ewan's grave on the day of his funeralPhoto of the funeral party at the gravesideThat's Archie and Ewan laid to rest then. Wasn't it a sad episode? And what a chilly, wintry 'River City' it was too - you could tell it was during the cold snap, couldn't you?

But did you know how lucky the crew were filming the funeral scenes during the big snow? We got the lowdown on filming from Neil Mac, who is the Unit Manager on River City. It's his job to set up and oversee filming on location.

Neil tells us that Ewan's funeral scenes were shot in Dumbarton Cemetery, just down the road from the River City set. Shooting on location can be tricky as the main thing you have no control over is the weather. And that week in January was one of the snowiest weeks in Scotland,so there was a bit of anxiety about filming.

Photo of the Murdoch family at Ewan's funeralThe night before shooting the scenes the ground was covered in snow. Luckily when they got to the cemetery the next day the snow had disappeared - phew!

And, the cemetery workers also got some extra work that day, as they featured in the show. Talk about having the proper qualifications for the job!

Poster for the Open Mic NightPhoto of Big Bob singing at the Talent ShowWell, who would've though the big man would have such a massive talent?

Big Bob was certainly the pick of the bunch at the talent show in this week's episode, which you can watch again on Sunday on BBC Two Scotland at 11:55, or on the magical magnificent iPlayer til Sunday 11 April. It's (almost) as good as a TV show time machine.

What a talented man Tom Urie is, eh? His rendition of The Beatles' 'Blackbird' was so sweet.

Oh, and after a rummage in the drawers at River City HQ we've got hold of one of the Open Mic Night posters, for your perusal. Happy Easter!
