Making the unmissable, unmissable! Andy returned to Shieldinch, sparking a lot of interest from Iona et al. He tracked Ruth down and he told her that he believes they could have something special. Ruth finally decided to come clean but Gina told him the truth before Ruth got her chance!
When Ruth realised Gina has revealed her lies to Andy she dashed back to the flat and cried, feeling terrible about how things had turned out. Andy turned up and listened while Ruth tried to explain what happened… and then he kissed her! He's never stopped loving her.
All seemed great until Andy told a shocked Ruth that he's been offered a job in Dubai. He was really keen for Ruth and Eilidh to go with him but Ruth was unsure. Gina and Eileen encouraged her, telling her it's a great opportunity, so she told Andy that she'll go with him.
But then, just as it seemed everything was falling into place, Ruth had second thoughts… With her fears mounting, an insecure Ruth told a puzzled Andy that she didn't want to go to Dubai with him anymore. He offered not to go, and to find a job in Shieldinch but a desperate Ruth lied to a devastated Andy, telling him that he's the problem.
Ruth confessed to Eileen that she'd finished things because she didn't feel good enough for Andy. Eileen desperately tried to catch up with Andy but she was too late and he left Shieldinch. A broken Ruth was on her own again.
Daniel had lunch with his old friend and counsel Father Mulvaney to tell him about his new idea – he wants to open a boxing club in Shieldinch. Daniel knew he'd meet with some protests from the locals and needed the Father's backing. He thinks the club would be good for the local youth, helping to focus their minds and teach them a sense of discipline and goals. Although Father Mulvaney was a little dubious about Daniel training the boys himself he was eventually won over by his enthusiasm.
Marianne, however, was immediately against the idea, convinced that he should stay far away from any kind of violence at all given his past. She tried to talk Father Mulvaney out of helping Daniel but the Father made it clear to a disappointed Marianne that he thinks the project will be good for Daniel and the local community. Daniel subsequently found out that Marianne had spoken to Father Mulvaney and he calmly tried to discuss things with her but an annoyed Marianne felt he didn't understand the club would affect both of them.
Meanwhile the residents realised that if the club goes ahead, it will be at the expense of their plans to modernise the community centre so they united against Daniel's boxing club idea. Facing the others, Marianne realised that she needs to back her husband if they are to stay together as a couple.
When an anxious Jimmy found out his taxi was a write-off, Bob tried to soften the blow by offering Jimmy a job in the garage. However, things didn't work out well and a reluctant Bob had no choice but to fire Jimmy. Jimmy tried to find work but grew disillusioned by the whole process, fearing he's too old to get a job.
Gina realised that there's more to Eileen and Alex's relationship than meets the eye - Eileen asked Gina to keep things quiet for now happy to stay under the radar for the moment.
