Macaulay & Co - Fringe blog by Sam Bradley
Sam Bradley's working as a runner at the Edinburgh Festival for Fred and the team, Here's her behind the scenes blog post...
Monday was the first of our programmes broadcast live at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, beamed out from the buzzing BBC site in Potterow. Today was also my first on the show as a runner, and after being welcomed by the crew and equipped with a production team t-shirt, the rain also failed to dampen my day.Abandoman lounging in the Mac & Co green room
Backstage Abandoman told us that our green room was the best he'd ever seen - quite a compliment, considering he was pitting a portakabin against the rest of the world.
They kicked the show off in style, and quickly became favourites of the backstage crew, whilst Jigsaw, Kwat, Bridget Christie and Patrick Monahan added to the mix with their stand up acts.Patrick Monahan in particular proved to be a highlight, telling jokes backstage and giving all the members of the crew a hug as he left.
Phill Jupitus, Tim Vine and Danny Bhoy turned up for the sofa chat with Fred and Susan - and despite Danny shaving it pretty close by arriving late, this section proved to be the funniest part of the programme. Tim deploying some excellent one liners and a song about trams, whilst Phill spoke about his busy recent schedule, which included a run staring in the West End musical Spamalot.
