Festival Café - day three
Festival Café runner Sophie Stevenson has written this blog about her third day working on the show.

Looking very suave indeed but missing one of their singers The Magnets were first to arrive. Sophie asked "I thought you guys stuck together?" to which they responded with chuggles of laughter and replied in equal cheesy humour "no, we're poles apart". Luckily Andy arrived on time and the boys grabbed some impromptu rehearsal time backstage. Coupled with Robert Gildon's warm-up routine, which involved hopping about making monkey noises, it was quite a sight to behold.
Walking from the stage to the green room was quite a musical experience; between The Magnets warming up outside in the sunshine to the musicians of Dr Quimpugh's tuning up their instruments inside. Confusion set in when we had thought someone's granny had wandered backstage but it was in fact Sandra Prinsloo in full get up as she had to be whisked away straight after her interview to take the stage for her own show. However her undeniable elegance and glamour shone through underneath her character, Magdaleen an 81 year old woman who recounts her life when she has to part with her sewing machine.
"Does my bum look big in this?" said Robert from Dr Quimpugh's as he pulled on pyjamas over his shorts. He was kiting out for a snippit of the show on today's Festival Café. The general consensus was "It will look great on radio!" This certainly made up for The Pyjama Men on yesterday's show that came dressed in casuals. During his chat with Clare English, Ron Butlin's recounted how Edinburgh was in the 70's which was a great insight into life in Edinburgh and especially how much the Edinburgh Festival has changed over time.
