Festival Café - day ten
The tenth and final day of our festival shows and our final blog post from the brilliant Festival Café runners - Sophie Stephenson, Rebecca Davies, Maria Smith and Andrea MacKinnon.
There was a man in a box wearing socks on today's show - but not on his feet, on his hands! The lovely Kevin Sutherland, of 'The Scottish Falsetto Sock Puppet Theatre', had the crowd roaring in laughter with his entertaining sock-puppet act.Today's show also brought us a musical blend of the Auld Alliance due to the ironic twist that Scottish singer/songwriter, Christine Bovill, beautifully delivered the songs of Piaf while the singer from the show ' Through the Looking Screen', written by French writer Anne Chmelewsky, sang in English. Close your eyes and you'd have thought you were strolling down the streets of Paris listening to Edith Piaf. It's no wonder then that the production team were swooning in the wings to Christine's incredible performance.
Festival Café runners Sophie Stephenson, Rebecca Davies, Maria Smith and Andrea MacKinnon with comedian Reginald D Hunter.
Waiting on the street corner for our final act to arrive Rebecca heard the smooth voice of the humorous, bright, witty and fabulous Reginald D Hunter. Our audience won't be forgetting his opening one-liner to the show: "Lots of white people in space"... indeed the glittering fairy lights enclosing the audience, in the otherwise dark tent, were phenomenal!
Alas today was our last Festival Café and our last day in the delightful Tardis at Potterrow. It's been a fantastic ride along the way with lots of amazing acts, marvellous memories and oh so fabulous people!
