Mary Chapin Carpenter on the Iain Anderson Show
I was lucky enough to be in the audience for the Mary Chapin Carpenter gig at the Old Fruitmarket last night (25 Oct) where she put on an excellent show featuring songs from her new album as well as a selection from her back catalogue including Stones in the Road, Passionate Kisses, Shut Up and Kiss Me. It was her first time in Scotland since the 2007 Celtic Connections festival, and on this occasion she was supported by Another Country with Ricky Ross favourite Tift Merritt.

As soon as the gig finished she headed over to the Iain Anderson Show where she spent an hour in his company talking about the new album sharing the stories behind some of the songs, the life-threatening pulmonary artery she had last year, her family of dogs and cats and much more.
The interview is available until Monday 1 November, and if you're a fan it's worth giving it a listen - she's an interesting and informative guest.

I thought it was a great show and Tift as usual was sparkling. MCC though gave a tour de force of her music old and new - I thought the set was brilliant. Great dancing by Tift on the encore as well!
Managed to catch the interview with iain as well and it is well worth a listen.

Still, the interviews (she gave a great interview to Bob Harris for his BBC Radio 2 Country show that was broadcast last week too) are a wonderful stand-in, and I could listen to Mary Chapin just talk all day!
