As you may have heard, Radiohead are releasing their ninth studio album THIS Sunday. The yet untitled LP will be released physically on XL Recordings on June 17th, and in anticipation the band released a new single ‘Daydreaming’ with accompanying music video on Friday 6th May.
The new album is being made available online at 7pm this Sunday, right bang in the middle of our show, so we’re going to listen to it with you live on air. Come, join our Radiohead listening party, with Tom Robinson as your host.
For that reason, and in celebration and anticipation, bring your Radiohead to 6 Music.
The first hour of the show will be your suggestions as usual, SO that could mean tracks by the band but also those they have influenced like Muse, Elbow, Manics, Arcade Fire, REM, Kurt Vile, Grizzly Bear, James, Supergrass,…how long have you got?
Or people that have influenced them; Pink Floyd, David Bowie, Neil Young…
Side projects and solo work; Thom Yorke, Johnny Greenwood, Philip Selway have all released their own solo music…
THEN in the second hour Tom plays the album, and we all listen to it together.
So, FIRST HOUR suggestions, SECOND HOUR we listen to the new album together, like one big Radiohead family, and Thom Yorke’s the Dad.
Radiohead fans, this Sunday’s Now Playing is your destination. We’re really looking forward to sharing this moment with you.
Let us know what Radiohead-related music you want us to play – including the reasons why - by contacting Tom Robinson via the hashtag #Radiohead6Music to help create a playlist.
