On this Sunday’s Now Playing the whole 2 hours will be a Stone Roses inspired playlist.
Back in MarchThe Stone Roses frontman Ian Brown confirmed that the band were definitely recording new material or ‘glorious’ new music as he put it, following rumours that they had been working on the long-awaited follow-up to 1994's 'Second Coming’.
With a festival headline slot, four sold-out homecoming gigs and a night at New York venue Madison Square Garden fast approaching, expectant fans were convinced new music from the band was imminent.
Well fast forward to May this week, with reports on Tuesday (May 10) that digital advertisements bearing the band's iconic lemon logo - which appeared on the cover of their 1989 self-titled debut album - had begun to pop up around Manchester, a surefire sign that a major Stone Roses announcement is looming…and that announcement is that a brand new single is dropping TONIGHT at 8PM (May 12).

So in true Now Playing style we are handing the two hours over to all things Stone Roses related. So anything from their two albums, bands that have inspired them like Ride, The Beatles, Led Zep, Hendrix, Love, The Smiths, New Order or what about bands that wouldn’t exist without them like Oasis, The CharlatansKula Shaker…and so on. Peers of the 'Madchester' scene like the Happy Mondays, 808 State, Inspiral Carpets or have you seen anyone play at the iconic Hacienda nightclub? Have you met Tony Wilson…? Were you at Old Trafford when Ian Brown sang the walk on music for Gary Neville’s testimonial in 2011…? What about some of his solo stuff (not Gary Neville’s, Ian Brown’s solo stuff). You get the idea.
You pick the music, so get your Stone Roses inspired suggestions to Tom via the hashtag #StoneRoses6Music to help create a playlist. Comment on the Now Playing Facebook page, here on the blog, email nowplaying@bbc.co.uk or drag tracks onto our Spotify playlist.
