Labour Shadow Home Secretary did some karaoke just this week and it was bloody awful. What was he thinking? Totally massacred The Beatles’ ‘I Saw Her Standing There’ the other night in Brighton. But hey, who hasn’t?
Not only that, but a bunch of artists including Jarvis Cocker, Robyn and Metronomy have each contributed to a film soundtrack, where all the song videos are done in a singalong karaoke style, complete with scrolling words and everything, it was revealed yesterday.
So we thought, let’s do the greatest karaoke playlist ever! Yay! Dear listeners, we would like you to give us examples of when you've either brought the house down or cleared the room whilst performing karaoke. We want the stories of the songs and what happened. What's your default karaoke song (mine is Meatloaf’s ‘Bat Out of Hell’)? What's the best karaoke performance you've ever witnessed? What stories do you have of celebrities and real life artists doing karaoke?
We may even play karaoke versions of tracks so you can sing along at home. Video your “performance” via Vine or Instagram and send them into us for the ultimate playlist collaboration. You know it makes sense.
You pick the music, so get your best karaoke-inspired suggestions to Tom via the hashtag #Karaoke6Music to help create a playlist. Comment on the Now Playing Facebook page, here on the blog, email nowplaying@bbc.co.uk or drag tracks onto our Spotify and Rdio playlists.
