As the build-up reaches fever pitch ahead of Brian Eno’s Peel Lecture (Sunday 6-8pm), us at Now Playing are gearing up for a completely reactive show based on what the great man will talk about.
That means we’re making a completely live show, totally on the fly, based on a topic that we don’t really know much about until Brian tells us.
Oh of course there’ll be plenty of Eno-related music – so you’re more than welcome to suggest anything from his vast network of bands, solo projects, collaborations, producer credits and the most tenuous of musical links. Make Eno’s back catalogue your starting point.
We also know Mr Eno will focus his lecture on “culture”. Namely, how various events can contribute to the influence of music culture on an individual, a movement or a genre. So another musical place to mine the Now Playing gold could be artists who’ve been influenced by Eno in a big way. Brian Eno is regularly referred to as a hugely influential artist, so give us some of those artists for our collaborative playlist, dear listener.

We’re aware much of this week’s playlist will be done in real time, so that means we doubly need your help to contribute to this Sunday’s Now Playing. And remember, we’re on at a slightly later time too, 8-10pm for one week only!
You pick the music, so get your culture and influence-inspired suggestions to Tom via the hashtag #PeelLecture to help create a playlist. Comment on the Now Playing Facebook page, here on the blog, email nowplaying@bbc.co.uk or drag tracks onto our Spotify and Rdio playlists.
