For most of us, Monday began in a haze of bewilderment. The incredibly sad news of David Bowie’s passing came as a complete shock, reflected on air and online not just for the remainder of Monday but also across the week.
On this Sunday’s Now Playing @6Music Tom Robinson invites 6 Music listeners to create a tracklist in honour of one of the most extraordinary artists in the history of pop music via social media as well as reading your tribute messages.
David Bowie’s music will be at the heart of Sunday’s show but we’ll also welcome track and artist suggestions from his collaborators, music peers, and some of the artists and genres that he inspired.

David Bowie was also a pioneer of the Internet. He recognised the power of online and predicted it’s potential in the late 1990s. Long before social media was invented, Bowie regularly interacted with fans on his own Bowienet, established in 1998.
It’s fitting that the news of David’s passing was announced via Twitter and the majority of subsequent tributes were conducted via social media. Also on Sunday we’ll explore how the Internet reacted to this unexpected and dreadful loss.
You’re in control of the music so let us know what David Bowie-related music you want us to play – including the reasons WHY - to Tom Robinson via the hashtag #Bowie6Music to help create a playlist. Comment on the Now Playing Facebook page, here on the blog, email nowplaying@bbc.co.uk or drag tracks onto our Spotify playlist.
