You might remember Heather Jansch's stunning driftwood stag which we featured a couple of week's ago on Unsprung. Well, it caused a bit of a stir, so we thought how nice it would be if we showed a few more of her sculptures off.

I have a photo of some very similar looking driftwood horses taken in the garden of the White House in Washington in 2000. Wonder if they were by the same artist?

These pictures conjure up fuzzy feelings of satisfaction from childhood holiday memories of (solid) wooden animal sculptures that we children were allowed to sit upon on high, with its comforting and uniquely scented texture, form and smell. Even though these are holey, they still magic a desire of going up to them and giving a massive cuddle as a child would wish a soft toy or a horse owner would the neck of theirs. Thank you for sharing all of these special works of art on your programme.

If you ever get the chance, go and see the real thing in her gardens in Devon - the presence and spirit of Heather's sculptures are breath-taking! Details of her Studio Open Days on her website: heatherjansch.com
