Bacon's not that bad. I thought it was interesting when he pinned Mark down on the 3D issue. Like it or not, the vile fad of 3D is the reason people are going to see those big dull movies like Avatar, Clash of the Titans, etc., and they're lapping it up. And not just in the cinema either. Last month CNET went to an unveiling of 3D TVs at a Best Boy on Union Square, and the first customers were mightily tempted to put thousands of dollars down there and then. And that's in the aftermath of a recession. So no room for denial - people want 3D and Kermode's gonna have to put up with the stupidity of the average consumer for just a bit longer.

I'm from Iceland and I would like to apologise on behalf of Eyjafjallajökull, I know the relationship between my country and yours have been difficult during the last couple of years but I hope you'll forgive us for all the volcanic activity. However if Katla erupts we won't be holding any responsibility.



As for what Iceland has done for cinema, I should point out that one of the producers of Wild At Heart is from Iceland, Sigurjón Sighvatsson is his name. Also, there is a great Icelandic movie from 2003 called 'Nói the Albino' that I'm sure the good doctor has seen.

This had a pleasing 'Max Headroom' feel to it.

And if all else fails, you could try waving your (allegedly) large flappy hands around, see if that clears the ash clouds away long enough to get home... ;-)

Actually the reason I haven't seen Clash Of The Titans is because it's in 3D. I'm occasionally partial to stupid movies like this but not for almost a tenner + the inevitable headache.

That was a very lynchian blog, I must say. Very cool, sad and spooky. In a good way.

A post apocalypse road movie where a man has a date with Louise Brooks, but is stranded in a strange land with increasingly desperate people. Remember story and character plus a gritty cinema verite style and the audience will be hooked.
