Hurrah! Maybe not the wisest move though, good doctor. I'm predicting an 'Aint it cool news' like influx of deliberately inflammatory opinions such as:

The Exorcist is a terrible movie

The DA will never, ever look any good

Guillermo del Toro is a rank amateur in the world of movie making.

Having got those three out of the way (and may I point out I do not agree with the above opinions), have a very happy new year!

    As well as the insightful:

    FIRST!

    firST

    FIRst!!!!!!!!

    Plant!

That was so moving. I'm speechless.

Answer back? Sounds to me like: "Put 'em up, put 'em up! Which one of you first? I can fight you both together if you want. I can fight you with one paw tied behind my back. I can fight you standing on one foot. I can fight you with my eyes closed. Oh, pull an axe on me, eh? Sneaking up on me, eh? Why, I'll... Ruff!" *

    Do them on video Mark.

    * From a much better film than Mary Poppins too.

    Happy film going in 2009.

That was so moving, I'm scared.

Still, Happy New Year to you.

    Hi Jason Isaacs

No that's not right, Hi Fairpoint Convention, no that's not right either.

Hello The Good Doctor. That's it.

I'd like to suggest another New Year's resolution:

Make a point to review "the film of the week" FIRST! ;-).

p.s - Oh and more mammoths "Pirateseque" rants and accents too (don't listen to Mayo).

Now's the time to get posting.

First question - When do we get the Kermode Awards 2009?

  • Comment number 8.

That's the best present a boy could ask for.

Great idea, Mark. Can't wait to read your withering put-downs in text form!

Oh, and aren't zombies already technically dead?...

Like to here what Mark thinks of Ken Russell directing again, I really looking forward to Moll Flanders that seems tailor made Russell terrority

I do love your High School Musical Advent Calendar.

I have been trying to contribute via email to your 5live spot with Simon Mayo, but as I can only listen to this via podcast, I don't seem to get the right email address, especially as it seems to change throughout the day depending on what is currently on (something I only realised after sending two emails on different things).

My main point in the last one was. What is with these copycat kids films? The list is huge, but to name a few; A Bugs Life and Antz, Shark Tale and Finding Nemo, Madagascar and The Wild, and currently Inkheart and Bedtime Stories.

Went to see The Reader on my Xmas hols and came back anxious to hear your views. Imagine how I felt when I logged on to my podcasts to find that you haven't reviewed it (hopefully yet). This was not a simple 'love-it or hate-it' film - especially as we took my friend's 16-year old son. Fantastic performances by all, but it left me feeling slightly queasy. Looking forward to hearing your views on Friday - hopefully it will make it to the week's Top Ten.

After finding out that you actually read these comments and that you may in fact reply, I'd like to reiterate what I said to you when I met you in Belfast after the Mary Poppins screening, mainly because I'm sure I didn't quite get across what I wanted to say due to my nervousness and delight at having the opportunity to meet you. I'd just like to quote you first.

"If I made one person go and see Of Time and the city, then I think I’ve justified my existence."

Well not only would I not have seen Of Time and the City had you not recommended it, but you have greatly influenced me in the films that I've seen both in the cinema and at home over the last two years. The films of Paul Thomas Anderson, A Mighty Heart, The Mist and My Winnipeg just to name a few. That's not to mention the sublime wittertainment on the 5live show and here on this site. So thanks very much indeed and keep up the great work.

Do you think the BBC funding of Eastern Promises is part of the UK governments efforts to restrict sex trafficking?

how about a review of classic sci-fi like THE DAY THE EARTH STOOD STILL, SILENT RUNNING, TIME MACHINE etc.
