Today’s MPFree comes from the outlandish and, quite frankly, noisy sextet Swans. Forming in 1982, disbanding in 1997 and regrouping in 2010, Michael Gira, Norman Westberg, Christoph Hahn, Phil Puleo, Thor Harris and Christopher Pravdica are back with new material!

Renowned for being pretty brutal live – including making audience members ill, police being called on numerous occasions and venues rudely being shut down – they return with new album To Be Kind released 12th May. Main man Michael Gira says of the album: “It will be available as a triple vinyl album, a double CD, and a 2XCD Deluxe Edition that will include a live DVD. It will also be available digitally. In addition, I am thinking of releasing it as a USB “stick” / flashdrive (with special packaging), so that this ultimate, high quality version can be listened to from beginning to end, without interruption (the album is a little over 2 hours long).” You can also catch them on tour and, let’s be honest, why wouldn’t you?:
