So it's the end of the peak wedding season so we'd thought we've have a wedding Memory Tape from listener Alex Arnott. And as with most of our listeners, they like to make their tapes extra special:
"My lovely Scott and I got married at Edinburgh's The Caves in October 2009. We too were very determined to express ourselves and mutual love of music throughout the day and did not trust anyone else for the job. We initially had a playlist that lasted two days, with all of our favourite songs, which we then whittled down to five hours. Scott edited lots of the songs to ensure a seamless flow of music, and one of his proudest moments was editing out the rap in "Gravel Pit". Making this playlist was our finest collaboration, and listening to it brings back amazing memories in a way that we feel music chosen by others would not have.
We are particularly proud of the last section of songs, which constituted a series of songs which could have each been the last. When we danced to "One Day Like This", the remaining guests danced in a circle around us spontaneously. I had originally worried that playing Rage would "offend" some guests, but Scott persuaded me that I was wrong, and at this point our friends all joined in a pretty decent mosh pit. It's quite traditional to finish a Scottish wedding with Proclaimers, and for guests to form a circle around the couple and sing their hearts out.
