We like to shake things up here at MPFree towers, and that’s why today’s MPFree is from Australian ensemble fronted by Parvyn Singh and Shourov Bhattacharya who play “slammin' surf, disco and funk tunes inspired by 1960's and 1970's Bollywood.”

This track was recorded during the sessions for new album The Island of Dr Electrico – what a name for an album, released 7th July - but this an exclusive track not featured on the album. Also, some of the group’s singers and musicians have nicknames such as The Mysterious Lady, The Tiger, The Skipper and A Second Blind Assassin, and that can only be a good thing. The album promises more of the same organised musical chaos with lush strings and Hindi / Bollywood-style vocals, so we’ll bring you more as we have it! Whilst many of the great composers of the 60s and 70s such as “RD Burman and Anandji-Kalyanji along with performers such as Asha Bhosle and Mohammed Rafi are household names in India, their music is relatively unknown or performed outside of India. The Bombay Royale project seeks to both reinterpret this material and compose new works drawing on this era for inspiration.”
