MEMORY TAPES: 26TH OCTOBER 2012

Tagged with:

This week's Memory Tape comes from Rachel Henderson, who writes...

"Back in the late 80s my friend Hugh did me a mixed tape of songs he liked, that he called 'Now that's what I call wimpy'. Being rather forthright at times, I had scathingly referred to his foppish liking for bands like Prefab Sprout & Steely Dan as wimpy."

"It still looks a wimpy list to me, but it's also a reflection of his very good musical ear, and has some tunes that I now love, so thank you Hugh!"

The playlist is:

Year of the Cat - Al Stewart

Every day is like Sunday - Morrissey

I can see - Martin Stephenson & the Dainties

Talkin Bout a Revolution - Tracy Chapman

Heartland - The The

Luka - Suzanne Vega

Cars & Girls - Prefab Sprout

True Faith - New Order

Doctor Wu - Steely Dan

Goodbye Sunday - Everything but the Girl

Turn Turn Turn - The Byrds
