I came up with this Memory Tape it whilst working late at Shepperton Film Studios, alone with my own thoughts which could be just as entertaining as absolutely desolate. I made this tape just for me, just to lift my spirit – there’s nothing cool, new or ground-breaking really. But compiling this proved to be rather difficult! I created one nonetheless and when cycling home to Teddington in the rain at 10pm that night, my head was still buzzing with these very special tunes.
The tracks take me right from my childhood and its great fascination of the world, through the time of black hair, stripy tights and Dr Marten boots. Through a time of being a much too skinny teenager in a heavy metal / rock-focused-small-town bubble in Sweden, to my move to England forever. Through finding out what following your heart really means by going through a painful divorce and right up to the present day with the "happy with life in general” self that I am enjoying now. It takes a whole lot of yoga, meditating and partying - a magic mix I think you’ll agree.
I am fortunate enough to be able to work with what I love - sculpture, art and illustration - and the more I learn to embrace life, the more exciting the opportunities that come my way. It’s rather wonderful really. Currently, I am doing sculpting work for a prosthetic limbs company working from home, listening to your great show whilst planning the decor for an upcoming progressive psy-trance event that I might even be doing a little dancing show for! So that’s my tape.
