Your Memory Tape today comes from one Jake Kenny in Bristol, who writes...
“I know usually they're unearthed gems that have been recorded on tapes or minidiscs and lost in drawers for years, and this is just a plain old cd playlist and a modern one at that but as it's pretty special to me I thought I'd fire it over and see if it made the grade.
“My wife and I had our first child last Monday and in preparation for the big day (or the final push) I'd made a series of five compilation CD's, all packed with crackers but ultimately chilled enough as background music so that she'd be relaxed while listening to them. In the event after listening to the whole of the Alt-J and XX albums we ended up settling on just the first of the 5 CD's on repeat in the delivery suite.”
The track listing is...
Atlas hands - Benjamin Francis Leftwich
La Ritournelle - Sebastian Tellier
Interlude - Badly Drawn Boy (from EP3)
Hoppipolla - Sigur Ros
Interlude 2 - Alt-J (from Awesome Wave)
All i need - air
I don't need love - The Antlers
Laura - Bat for Lashes
Nightwalk - Belle & Sebastian
I'm the One/Money on My Mind - JJ
Love Theme from Spartacus - Terry Callier
Bats in the Attic - King Creosote & John Hopkins
Holocene - Bon Iver
All my days - Alexi Murdoch
Such great heights - Iron & wine
Sea of Love - Cat Power
Where is my mind? - Sunday Girl
“So there are a few cliched tracks in there, a few of my wife's favourites and a few of mine.
The cd has been played plenty of times since we've been home too, and I've come in to the nursery to see Ellie having an emotional tear to Hoppipolla a few times as that's the song that Toby arrived to (although I had to tell her that as the gas and air meant she wasn't too sure of everything!).”
Thanks Jake, hey you - why not email your Memory Tape too? lauren.6music@bbc.co.uk
