MEMORY TAPES: 18TH NOVEMBER 2011

This week's Memory Tape comes from Angie in Barcelona who, after hearing the feature a couple of weeks ago was inspired to get in touch. We had a run of tales of love which had sad endings, and Angie took it upon herself to buck that trend. Thanks.

Angie picks up the story..."I thought I'd send you mine and my boyfriend Michael's tape. We both moved to Barcelona from the UK about four years ago and met here through our mutual friend Wayne on a night out three years ago.

"When we first got together we realised we both shared a MASSIVE love of music and going to gigs and festivals. We shared similar tastes but also introduced each other to lots of new music as well. In the first few weeks we'd spend all of our days in work sending each other emails with different songs that we loved and then we'd meet after work and go to the beach or the park and play them on our iPod speakers together in the sunshine. As time went on the songs we sent to each other were ones that had special meanings and lyrics that reminded us of each other and it was our way of saying that we were falling in love.

"It wasn't long before we actually said it out loud and we've been inseparable ever since.

"Three years on and many gigs and festivals later we're still really happy together and this summer while we were on holiday in Greece Michael asked me to marry him! We're hoping to get married next year and have a big party at home in Manchester with all of our family and friends and dance to the music that brought us together.

"I saved all of the songs that we sent to each other in those first few weeks/months on a huge email. I've just gone through it and picked out some of our favourites. Hope you like them as much as we do."
