MEMORY TAPES: 25TH AUGUST 2011

We're back to tales of love with Memory Tapes this week. Katie Herring send us a mix this week, and she writes...

"I had a couple reason for making the tape. I needed an Easter present for my boyfriend and also he'd just got his first car which only had a tape player so thought it was my chance to kill two birds with one stone. I rummaged around in our loft and found an old tape recorder which looked like it still worked and plugged it into my laptop to record the tracks from Spotify. The end sound quality is questionable but I like to think of it as having an authentic vintage feel!

"Mostly these are bands that have kind of been the soundtrack to our relationship so far with a few others thrown in so I don't look like too much of a girl. Pete and I have known each other for ten years and used to have the same music class together, but have only just recently got together as an 'official' couple. Pete is a bit more hot on the music scene than I am and he introduced me to lots of the bands on the tape.

"I guess you could Say the Feeling is our guilty pleasure and I think I actually played them to him first while we still in the Unofficial stage. He'd come from Exeter to see me at uni on Valentines Day and I think I played the tracks in the car to pick him up from the station. He'll probably say otherwise but that's my memory of it anyway.

"Basically the whole tape was an excuse for me to channel my inner teenage girl! I even made a cover for it!" She did, look, here it is:
