BBC Introducing at the Montreal Jazz Festival 2015

Jamie Cullum

BBC Radio 2 presenter

Earlier this year I invited emerging jazz artists from around the UK to share their music with me via the BBC Introducing Uploader. My show on BBC Radio 2 regularly features music that I’ve found on the BBC Introducing Uploader, but this July BBC Introducing & PRS for Music Foundation are hosting their first ever Showcase at Montreal International Jazz Festival on Wednesday 1st July. I was looking to find the best in unsigned and under-the-radar music being made by British jazz musicians to be considered for this opportunity so I can have the pleasure of introducing them on stage in North America this summer.

The Montreal International Jazz Festival sees over 800 concerts take place in the city across 10 days. Here we see legends such as Tony Bennett and Ray Charles play alongside emerging acts, performing to an international audience for the first time.

I’m delighted to announce, following our panel, that the three artists we have invited to perform BBC Introducing & PRS for Music Foundation showcase are:

Malaika, Mammal Hands and Peter Edwards

These UK acts will be adding their name to the world’s largest annual celebration of jazz music and I’ll be bringing you all the live performances and telling you how you can watch these artists performances on my Radio 2 show. By simply uploading their music to the BBC Introducing Uploader, these emerging jazz artists are now preparing for their first international showcase. If you’re a new jazz artists making music in the UK I look forward to hearing your tracks on the Uploader soon.

Blog comments will be available here in future. Find out more.
