BBC Introducing is an amazing resource and an amazing platform for musicians that are under the radar, a lot of musicians are under the radar, but a lot of them have got something to say. The great thing about the BBC is that there are so many channels and stations that have the opportunity to get your music out there.

To me that is important because I love hearing new music, I love hearing music that’s under the radar, I love hearing new things that aren’t necessarily being fed to us by the major labels, because sometimes you know music doesn’t always fit into to every category and that’s what BBC Introducing is perfect for.

I’ve discovered some great artists via BBC introducing, such as Mirror Signal, Soak and Ben Cox band (pictured above). They’ve all been featured on my Radio 2 show, which a very listened to show, so it’s a great opportunity for these bands to get discovered by people who otherwise wouldn’t have heard them. Through being heard on shows like this, they’ve been getting booked at festivals, Izzy Bizu I played on my radio show too and then I selected her to perform on the BBC Introducing stage at Glastonbury.

It’s really worth uploading your music, I’m really looking forward to having more jazz groups upload their music to BBC introducing, because at the moment, there’s not enough jazz people that are doing that and I want you to know that I’m listening, I’m ready to hear your music, and ready to feature it on my show. Not only will I feature it on the show, but I have the chance to book bands found on BBC Introducing to do a BBC Maida Vale sessions: a specially recorded live session at the legendary Maida Vale studios, so get your band together, get your tracks on the BBC Introducing Uploader - I am out there, listening.
