Hometown: Big Beat Bronson are a hip hop quartet from Newcastle upon Tyne. The band are Baron Von Alias (who played the BBC Introducing Stage at Radio 1's Big Weekend in Carlisle in 2011), MistaBreeze, Eliza Lawson and DJ LKP. They united their powers at the start of the summer of 2012 and have been making waves ever since.

Style: The foursome more than live up to the big beat billing with New Me pounding on your door for attention. Fans of Chase & Status and Pendulum will enjoy the sharply produced drum and bass track while Von Alias and Mistabreeze's pass-the-mic vocals have drawn comparisons with the Beastie Boys... albeit with Geordie accents.

You need to know: The band aren't shy when it comes to dipping into the dressing up box. If you go see them live, don't be surprised to see onesies, Ghostbuster outfits and, of course, one particularly great moustache.

Supported by: BBC 6 Music's Tom Robinson calls them 'genius' and BBC Newcastle's Nick Roberts has been backing them for a while, first playing New Me at the start of July.

Find out more: Head to the band's official site to see the video for New Me and follow the band on Twitter for their latest updates.
