This week's BBC Introducing discovery is Silverclub with Your Headphones. This lot have a really intriguing sound...and I like it! They are a Manchester group based around one Duncan Edward Jones, joined by his friends Chris McGrath, Henrietta Smith-Rolla and Jim Noir - an artist in his own right who you might have heard on my show before. They've released an album and an EP, and BBC Introducing in Manchester love them so much they got them in for an acoustic session. They passed the track onto us at Radio 1, and I played it on my Wednesday night show - listen from midnight every Wednesday on BBC Radio 1 if you want to hear more!

BBC Introducing went down a storm at Brisfest last weekend. Check out the pictures and video below to get a taste of the action. Many thanks to Chaz Oliver for the video and Tanya Hazell for the pics.

Sam Bonham and Richard Pitt from BBC Introducing in Bristol curated their own stage at Brisfest this year, with performances from some of the city's best acts.

Brisfest sold out and 20,000 people descended onto Ashton Court on Saturday 22 September.

Juru, one of 13 performers on stage from the Knowle West Community Centre opened up the BBC Introducing Stage on the Saturday afternoon.

The audience were incredible all day.

Seasfire, who have recently been in to do a Maida Vale Session with Steve Lamacq, blew the audience away with their silky electro infused indie pop.

Bristol favourite Dub Mafia attracted the biggest crowd of the day on the BBC Introducing Stage.

BBC Introducing invited guests to come in for backstage Den Sessions in the most beautiful yellow caravan.

Stalwarts of the thriving guitar music scene in Bristol, The Naturals were probably the loudest band Brisfest had all day.

Introducing favourites, The Bronze Medal grace the stage with their beautiful folky whisperings.

Representing BBC Introducing on the Radio 1 playlist this week are Mausi and their tune sol. Listen to the track and find out a little more about the group.

Hometown: Newcastle via Milan. Mausi are fronted by siblings Thomas and Daisy Finetto, who were born in Italy. They are joined by friends Ben Brown and Benjamin Huntrods to complete the quartet.

Style: Upbeat indie electronica that makes you want to jump around, dance like a fool and wave your arms in a really badly coordinated manner (maybe that's just me). sol. is like a slice of the summers we use to know in the UK. You know, the hot ones which came with lots of ice cream.

This week's BBC Introducing discovery is Peter and The Kibbutznik from BBC Introducing in Kent, and the sound of this track Wolf It All something pretty hard to categorize. They're a duo from Gravesend/Dartford, one half being the alter-ego of singer-songwriter Steaming Heathen. He says this may be the first and last ever song by Peter and The Kibbutznik, but we hope not - this is 2 minutes of noisy, bonkers brilliance that blew us away.

This week's BBC Introducing track on the Radio 1 playlist is Random Impulse and On A Roll. The track will be getting played all week by the likes of Greg James, Dev and Huw Stephens. Here's a little introduction to the man himself.

Hometown: Hackney, London

Style: Random, real name Jovel Walker, is his two heroes, Alex Turner and Jay-Z, rolled into one. Guitar, rapping and singing all done with minimal fuss and maximum enjoyment. On A Roll is fast, furious and ever so dirty sounding - you will love it.

Did you know? His first mixtape, Word on the Street, contained 44 tracks and sold over 10,000 copies.

My BBC Introducing discovery of the week is a bit of a banger. It's from Joel Hoddell, a young producer from Hereford who divides his time up between going to college and making excellent beats. BBC Introducing in Hereford & Worcester loved it so much they got Joel in for a session earlier this year. Pumping, peaktime dancefloor eurphoria-inducing bizniz. Here's his track Pulse - check it out!

Hometown: Hackney, London

Style: Isaac uses old school beats and crystal clear verses to deliver lyrics drawn from his life in London. Opportunities is a freewheeling track with effortless swagger.

Did you know? The rapper, who first picked up the microphone at the age of 11, played our BBC Introducing Stage at Hackney Weekend back in June.

If you are a new artist looking to make it BIG or dare I say it, make a career or even money out of your music then you've no doubt realised already that you have to be in for the long haul. You already know there are no set paths to getting where you want to be, in fact you may already have experienced some of the pitfalls of being a young artist.

I'm using this blog to pester as many new artists that have made it into telling us what they wish they hadn't done on the way to the top. You know... so you don't have to.

We've already told the story of Hawk Eyes on our Reading & Leeds Festival pages but it's worth telling again for those unfamiliar with their beginnings.

Until the end of the 2011, the band were known as Chickenhawk, a fearsome hardcore quartet from Leeds who toured with Alexisonfire and We Are The Ocean and played our stage at Reading Festival in 2009. After the name change, lead singer Paul Astick was advised by his doctor to tone down his beastly vocals to avoid doing permanent damage.

One listen to Headstrung, which is being played on BBC Radio 1 all week, and you'll wonder if Paul really is obeying doctor's orders. It's a tremendous vocal performance over bigger-than-your-house riffs bolstered by a punctuating melody and ear catching bursts of guitar flair. For some it'll remind them of Deftones, for others Alexisonfire or the Foo Fighters. For most it'll just be one of the catchier and fun alternative rock tracks they've heard on BBC Radio 1 and beyond for sometime.
