It's time once again to take a whistle-stop tour around the UK and bring you a flavour of what our local radio shows have been up to in the past few weeks.

Sam Taylor of Adelaide's Cape. Photo by Antonella Muscat

BBC Norfolk have been chatting to Sam Taylor (aka Adelaide's Cape) who's been getting his face known in his native Norwich in recent weeks. Having already played locally in support of indie folk darlings First Aid Kit and Alessi's Ark recently, Sam has just released his debut EP, Last Sleep in Albion, and has another gig lined up at The Birdcage on 8 April. If you can't wait until then, watch the interview and live session which the BBC Norfolk team filmed with Sam earlier this year.

Umbrella Assassins

Throughout February, BBC SuffolkIntroducing went on tour, broadcasting their Thursday night show live from three local venues (OK, pubs) in order to take a closer look at the current state of the music scene in Suffolk. There were live sets from The Cads, (((Oh Dear, Ideals, This Boy Wonders, Ed Sheeran and Umbrella Assassins and they've documented it all in a photo gallery. Well worth a look.

storm the charts

Over in the West Country, there's talk of a Facebook campaign which aims to fill the Top 40 chart with unsigned bands. BBC Somerset spoke to Glastonbury resident Wes White about his plan, which aims to build on December 2009's infamously successful 'Rage Factor' campaign by catapulting a host of relative unknowns into the chart through. You've got to admire the man's ambition. If you're in a band and would like one of your tracks to be part of the campaign, you've got until 23 March to apply on Facebook.

Lancaster Co-op25 years after opening a community studio in their home town, the owners of Lancaster's Musicians Co-operative told BBC Lancashire's Shelley Booth the facility is still going strong. Many local musicians have recorded and rehearsed in the studio over the years, including keyboard player Mark Hunter (James) and Paul 'The Rev' James (Towers of London, Prodigy). To celebrate the 25th anniversary, they plan to host benefit gigs and clean-up days where locals can help give the place a new lick of paint!

Elsewhere, Matthew at BBC Berkshire spoke to Golden Hours. Or is that The Golden Hours? Formerly known as The Wookies, they've recently 're-branded' but aren't entirely sure how they feel about that pesky definite article (maybe they should ask The Editors for some advice). They played live on The Session with Jenny Minard at the end of February and recently gigged with other local BBC Introducing alumni, Vienna Ditto and Sixty Watt Bayonets.

IEnvyf you were at Manchester's In The City in October 2009, you might have caught rapper Envy at BBC Introducing's showcase night. She's building up quite a buzz right now, so with her debut album coming out on Monday 22 March, BBC Introducing in Manchester caught up with Envy to chat about filming the boxing scenes in the video for her single, Nadine. Also getting creative were MAY 68, whose debut video is set in outer space, no less. They've been played on Radio 1 by Rob Da Bank and Nick Grimshaw in recent weeks, and have been picked for the soundtrack of BBC Switch's series Single Together Whatever.

Richard Jay

To Northampton now, where 16-year-old Richard Jay has attracted the attention of a multi-million selling songwriter. Richard was first played last October on BBC Introducing in Northampton's Weekender and quickly saw his MySpace hits quadruple. Now he's in talks with writer Chris Brady, who has worked with the likes of Will Young, Westlife and Cheryl Cole

Liam Bailey

And finally, another solo singer-songwriter doing well for himself is Liam Bailey. Dean Jackson of BBC Nottingham's The Beat dropped us a line to tell us Liam has been signed to the famous Polydor label recently, home in the past to his heroes Ian Brown and Jimi Hendrix. Last week Liam visited Dean to play a live session for the BBC's big screens in Nottingham, performing his track It's Not the Same.

BBC Introducing has nearly 40 radio shows around the country dedicated to unearthing local unsigned and undiscovered talent. Find your local show and upload your music to them.
